Identifying Value Chain Business Cases and Financing Mechanisms for Climate Smart Agriculture and Nature-based Solutions

Developed sustainable and inclusive financing mechanisms for agricultural production and value chains in Mozambique’s Baruè and Vanduzi districts. Built on prior studies to review and enhance existing financing tools, supporting businesses and smallholder farmers engaged in key commodities such as soy, maize, and horticulture. Conducted a comprehensive value chain analysis and assessed market and financial needs, creating commercially viable business cases while exploring innovative financing options like blended finance and impact investments. These efforts supported the transition to climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Deliverables included detailed investment factsheets, policy briefs, and facilitated stakeholder workshops, fostering resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable agricultural economies.

UNCTAD Promove Comércio: Building Competitiveness for Exports

Enhanced market access and export competitiveness for Mozambique’s priority products through data analysis and policy recommendations under the UNCTAD Promove Comércio: Building Competitiveness for Exports (TJAH) project. Analyzed customs tariffs, non-tariff measures (NTMs), and other market access information to support Mozambican products with value addition and export potential. Provided tailored recommendations to ensure sustainability and inclusivity, benefiting government officials, private sector representatives, academia, and civil society.

Analyzed key factors such as market demand, environmental impact, community involvement, and financial viability, identifying innovative solutions to promote long-term conservation goals and sustainable development for the region.

Gaps Analysis of ERS Standards and International Regulatory Frameworks

Conducted a detailed gaps analysis of the ERS (Environmental and Social Responsibility) complete standard in comparison to international regulatory frameworks, including ICVCM (International Carbon Valuation and Certification Mechanism), CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation), and ICROA (International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance). Identified key discrepancies and opportunities for alignment to enhance compliance with global standards.
