A Bit About Me
With 10 years of experience in forest conservation as an environmental engineer and agroforestry project developer in Africa, Matthew Jordan leads Poseidon's Nature-based Solutions (NbS) project pipeline. His previous roles include Director of Sustainable Development at Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique and lead consultant on numerous NbS projects, including the USAID-SPEED Mozambique REDD+ Policy Gaps Analysis and TNC Angola Community Forest Carbon Project Development.
Matthew understands the NbS project development process from the perspectives of an implementer, policy analyst, and project developer, with a focus on the Sub-Saharan Africa context. He led the design and development of a large-scale jurisdictional REDD+ project in one of the most complex landscapes in Southern Africa, overseeing all aspects of project feasibility, from community engagement and government authorizations to finance negotiations.
Passionate about nature tech solutions, Matthew is involved in two startups: RAMO Technologies, a platform for NbS project origination and data analytics, and Elrepel, a biodiversity monitoring solution aimed at improving human-wildlife coexistence. Matthew holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town, an MSc in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BSc in Civil Engineering and Mathematical Sciences from Portland State University. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.
